At NMH Summer, you’ll dive into the arts each day, creating and collaborating with your peers. Whether you love to paint, draw, dance, sing, act, or photograph, you’ll find your place in our myriad art courses.

Afternoon Electives

If you choose to spend your morning in a different academic course, you can still pursue the arts through our afternoon electives, including photography, makerspace, acting, singing, dance, ceramics, or drawing and painting. Our afternoon arts electives offer a variety of options for every budding artist, whether you want to perform, design, build, or create.

Summer Scholars: Arts

Studio Arts: Drawing, Painting and Ceramics

Unleash your creativity in this full morning program for students who are passionate about exploring and developing their talents in the visual arts. You’ll explore a range of artistic techniques — painting, drawing, sculpture, and ceramics — through engaging projects, taking on new challenges each day, from mastering brush strokes and learning color theory to shaping clay and crafting your own ceramics. You’ll experiment and practice with different media, refine your skills, and bring your artistic vision to life ins a fun, supportive environment. Then share your work at a culminating Summer Arts Showcase.

Summer Institute for Performing Arts

Ready to take your performing arts to the next level? Students who are experienced in the Performing Arts are encouraged to apply for our advanced training program, Summer Institute for Performing Arts. Whether Dance, Vocal Performance, or Theatre are their specialty, the NMH stage will provide a home here on campus.

Artists will choose one of the three tracks in the morning to focus on studying technique, and join together with the other tracks for interdisciplinary courses and workshops like musical theatre and anatomy for performers in the afternoon. This program has a rigorous academic curriculum and opportunities to engage with professional performing artists through field trips, guest artists, and guest presenters. The program will culminate in a show for all of NMH Summer to enjoy.
