Professional Experiences

Throughout the summer, we’ll take trips to see professional productions in musical theater, dance, theater, and vocal performance. We’ll also welcome NMH alums working in the performing arts back to campus for guest artist classes, workshops, and conversations. These experiences will provide meaningful opportunities for you to learn from industry professionals, gain insight into the field, and build connections within the performing arts community.

Interdisciplinary Afternoons

Each afternoon, students from all three performing arts tracks will learn together in interdisciplinary courses.

Anatomy for Performing Artists: Develop greater body awareness and a stronger understanding of how to care for your body through discussion, observation, lab work, and movement-based activities. You’ll explore how the body works and how its systems support movement, alignment, strength, flexibility, and injury prevention to improve performance and stay healthy throughout your performing arts career.

Careers in the Arts: Performer, stage manager, art historian, producer, and director are just a few of the professional possibilities in the arts. This course will give you a glimpse into these diverse opportunities by connecting you with working professionals. We’ll focus on developing professional materials, including a resume and headshots.

Musical Theater: In this high-energy workshop, you’ll combine dance, theater, and voice to develop a musical theater presentation for the final showcase. You’ll have the opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and try many aspects of performing arts.
